Attorney L. Gregory Abilheira

Attorney L. Gregory Abilheira is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island. Greg handles a wide range of criminal matters and immigration proceedings.

​Legal Experience​

Thus far in his legal career, Gregory has engaged in a wide variety of practice areas including Criminal Defense, Immigration Law, and Personal Injury.

Having appeared before every court in Rhode Island, Greg has the experience and ability to fight for your rights.Greg has defended individuals in numerous misdemeanor and felony criminal cases including DUI’s, drug possession, assault and battery, and breaking and entering. Greg has also handled chemical test refusals and traffic violations at the Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal. In addition, Greg has experience securing post-conviction relief for individuals facing deportation as a result of aggravated felony convictions and convictions resulting from crimes involving moral turpitude.​

During law school, Greg was a student attorney with the Rhode Island Office of Attorney General, where he prosecuted several cases including a Chemical Test Refusal, Domestic Simple Assault, and numerous bail and probation violation hearings. Greg also completed an intensive semester with the Roger Williams University School of Law Immigration Clinic, where he successfully represented indigent clients before Boston Immigration Court and petitioned the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service for citizenship on behalf of his clients.​

Education

Greg completed his undergraduate studies at Boston College. He majored in Communication and minored in Philosophy. While at Boston College, Greg played football for the Eagles and was a mentor in the Heights Boys and Girls Club.​

Upon graduation, Greg returned to Rhode Island to pursue his Juris Doctor at Roger Williams University School of Law. During his time at Roger Williams, Greg was a competing member of the Moot Court team and argued in several mock appellate arguments. ​

Outside the Law​

Greg has been a member of the Bristol Volunteer Fire Department for six years. He frequently responds to calls including structure fires, general building alarms, and car accidents and participates regularly in local fundraising efforts.
